What is Mantra Yoga
The word mantra comes from two Sanskrit words: man meaning mind; and tra meaning vehicle or instrument – a tool to transport the mind from a state of activity to one of stillness and silence.
For example if we take the mantra 'Om'– often referred to as the hymn of the universe – is considered the ultimate vibration because it contains every vibration that has ever existed and every vibration that will ever exist. It’s pure yoga – union. Just as white light contains all the colors of the spectrum, Om contains every sound in the vibrational spectrum – even those we can’t hear with our ears. In its original spelling and pronunciation, AUM (pronounced ahh-uhh-mmm) is a blending of those three states of consciousness into the one-ness of three distinct syllables: A, U, and M. These three vibrations also represent the three stages of life: birth, living, and death. The vibration A (pronounced ahh) represents the waking state and the beginning of all things. The vibration U (pronounced ooo) is referred to as the u-kara and represents the dream state, the realm that is devoid of form or shape. The vibration M is known as the ma-kara, which represents the state of deep sleep – neither form or formless like the other two realms but beyond shape or shapelessness – the realm of consciousness in hibernation, waiting to unfold. In Sanskrit grammar, when the letters A and U are combined in writing, they are translated as the letter O. That is why we so often see Om written instead of Aum.
Sun Salutation Mantra
We will invoke the powers and brilliance of the sun through moving & mantra.
One of the means of honoring the sun is through the dynamic asana sequence Surya Namaskar (better known as Sun Salutation).
The Sanskrit word namaskar stems from namas, which means "to bow to" or "to adore."
(The familiar phrase we use to close our yoga classes, namaste--te means "you")
Each Sun Salutation begins and ends with the joined-hands mudra (gesture) touched to the heart.
Here is the chanting and names and meaning of the Surya namaskar (salutation) mantra

Surya Namaskar also boosts and improves the circulation of blood throughout your body.
Crystal Yoga
Why is it important to incorporate Crystals in the yoga class
For some of you who likes to understand the science. A crystalline structure is any structure of ions, molecules, or atoms that are held together in an ordered, three-dimensional arrangement. Crystals contain the remarkable ability to transform, absorb, amplify, and transmit. Energy is everywhere and crystals are the perfect conduit. Crystals vibrate at their own frequency, the same way that the cells in your body and your chakras vibrate at their own frequency. That means that when we come into contact with crystals these different frequencies meet and enhance your physical, emotional and spiritual bodies. Crystals do this by positively interacting with your body's energy field, or chakra. While some crystals are said to alleviate stress- reduce anxiety, others improve focus, help in creativity and enhance your light body.
Class Structure:
In the Crystal Yoga Class we will use the Chakras ( main energy bodies) as the basis & work with the Physical body using relevant Asanas(poses), Breath work, tune into the relevant crystals and the colors through meditation. In addition to the Chakra crystal set that you can purchase from us, you will need 2 additional gemstones- Tourmaline and Clear Quartz that you can bring or purchase.
